The Hood

( pardon for the very very poor quality)

The Hood Exhibition that was held at Vivocity Sky Garden was crowded with a lot of people yesterday. But somehow I managed to squeeze myself to the front row and see what’s happening.

What I saw was 7 mini booth- 1 artist for each booth and the booth looks like a mini houses. There are holes on each booth for the people and the artist to put their head and hands into the booth.

But I didn’t managed to see what’s inside the booth and what’s going on but I managed to talk to one of the crew there and asked them what is this all about. She told me that it is some kind of a puppet show where the artist will use their hands and facial expression to run the show in the booth itself and the audience will be the public but they will choose the audience from the crowd. There is also music being played.

But from what I saw was mainly the kids and/or their mom and/or dad were chosen to be their audience and to watch the puppet show in the booth. And I simply can’t hear the music.

So how is it interactive?

It is interactive by interacting with the audience through communication, their facial expression and their hands movement and music.

It is also creative in terms of using their own heads to create the expression, hands to make the actions and the interaction between the artist and the audience.

SIMPLY AWESOME!

Not only is the audience part of the scene but they also put in the music for it. Playing along with Singaporean performers, audience members interact with the comedians and puppets for an experience that goes well beyond any pre-written text.
